What if I receive an incorrect Form W-2?
Taxpayers who receive an incorrect W-2 or don't receive one from their employer when they should have should contact their employer as soon as possible.
An employer who prepared an incorrect W-2 must issue a W-2c, Corrected Wage and Tax Statement.
If you receive a W-2c, you should use the W-2c amounts for your tax return instead of the original W-2 amounts. Only an employer can issue a W-2 or a W-2c.
If your employer won't give you a corrected W-2, you can fill out IRS Form 4852. Then, choose to mail your tax return instead of e-filing it and include Form 4852 as part of your tax return.
