The overtime premium is the "half" amount of your "time-and-a-half" overtime.
For example, if you made $10 an hour, the "half" amount of your "time-and-a-half" pay is $5. If you had 10 hours of overtime during 2025, your overtime premium pay would be $50.
Some employers might report the total overtime pay. Total overtime is the base wage amount plus the overtime amount.
In the example, total pay from overtime would be $15 an hour multiplied by 10 hours or $150.
To get the overtime premium, divide your total overtime pay by 3. Continuing the example, total overtime of $150 / 3 = $50.
What if I had double overtime (2x base pay)?
