When do I need to mail my return for it to be considered on time?
Your return is considered filed on time if it's sent in an envelope that is properly addressed, has enough postage, is postmarked, and deposited in the mail on or before the due date, April 15, 2026.
If you're dropping it off close to the due date, you can ask for a manual (local) postmark at a United States Postal Service location.
If you filed an extension, be sure to mail in your tax return on or before October 15, 2026.
