What is a VIN?

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-character identifier assigned to each vehicle by its manufacturer. The VIN can often be found on the vehicle title, registration card, insurance documents, and on the car itself on the dashboard (lower left corner), driver's side door jamb, and engine block.
