Should I enter myself as a dependent if someone is claiming me as a dependent on their tax return?
If you're filing your own tax return with FreeTaxUSA, but someone is claiming you as a dependent, do NOT enter yourself as a dependent or qualifying child on the Menu Path: Personal > Dependents screen. This screen is only for people you're claiming as dependents or qualifying children.
You'll enter yourself as the taxpayer on the Menu Path: Personal > Taxpayer Information screen and answer Yes to the question that asks if someone can claim you as a dependent on their tax return.
