Taxpayers with print disabilities can elect to receive written communications from the IRS in an accessible format. Once processed, the election will apply to written communications that would otherwise be sent in standard print format.
Choosing an IRS alternative media preference is optional. If you don't select any preference the IRS will continue to send you communications in standard print format (or whatever preference they have on file from a previous
Form 9000 you filed.)
Even if you select a different alternative media preference, you'll also receive a copy of the communications, including notices and letters, in standard print format.
For additional information see the
IRS Alternative Media Center .
