Can a dependent who died in 2025 without an SSN or ITIN qualify for the earned income credit and the child tax credit?

If you meet all other requirements to claim this credit and the child was born alive, you'll be able to claim this dependent as you would any dependent with an SSN. You'll need to include with your return a copy of the birth certificate, death certificate, or hospital records showing a live birth.
