What is the Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse Subtraction?

The state of Maryland allows individuals or family members of individuals injured or killed in the collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge to subtract the total amount of the benefit payment from their Maryland income. In effect, any benefit payment made is treated as non-taxable by Maryland.
