What is the Preceptor Tax Incentive Credit?

This is an income tax credit to individuals in Alabama who provide clinical preceptorships in a rural area in one or more of the following program fields: medical allopathic, osteopathic, dental, optometric, physician assistant, anesthesia assistant, certified registered nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, certified registered nurse anesthetist. The Preceptor income tax credit will begin with the 2025 calendar year. The Alabama Statewide Area Health Education Center Program Office will administer the program and provide participating preceptors a certificate verifying their annual credit amount. The credit is limited to and shall not exceed the taxpayer's liability. There is no transfer, refund, or carryforward of any unused credit.
