For example, if you made traditional IRA contributions, but then you decided you wanted them to count as Roth IRA contributions you could recharacterize the contributions so they count as if you originally made Roth IRA contributions. \r\n\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>\r\nIn order to recharacterize your contributions you usually need to contact the trustee overseeing your IRA and let them know you'd like to recharacterize the contributions.
