What is the military pay exclusion?
North Dakota lets you deduct your military pay from your state income taxes. This applies if you are in the U.S. military on active duty, reserve duty, or in the National Guard.
The pay that can be deducted includes money for training, education, being called up for duty, bonuses, and pay from the state when on active duty.
You can only deduct the military pay that you included in your federal income tax.
