What is the FTC rule for multi-factor authentication?

The FTC Safeguards Rule  took effect in June 2023. Among other requirements, this rule requires that businesses implement multi-factor authentication for anyone accessing customer information.

To review your multi-factor authentication for your FreeTaxUSA account:

1. Click the Account menu in the upper-right portion of the screen.
2. Choose the Account Info option
3. The 2-Step Verification section will show the types of multi-factor authentication you have turned on and let you edit those options.
