Qualified education expenses for 529 distributions are:
- Tuition and fees for college or vocational school
- K-12 qualified education expenses
- Student loan repayments, up to a lifetime limit of $10,000
- Required computers, software, and internet access
- Required books, fees, and supplies
- Room and board (if at least a half-time student and costs are at/under on-campus housing costs)
- Required special needs equipment
- Postsecondary credentialing expenses
The following expenses are
not qualified for 529 distribution:
- Transportation and travel costs
- General electronics and cell phones
- Health insurance
- Non-required memberships or fees
