Washington offers a refundable credit to taxpayers who qualified for the federal Earned Income Credit and who lived in Washington for at least half of the year. The credit is called the Washington Working Families Tax Credit.
Additionally, taxpayers who would have qualified for the federal Earned Income Credit, except that they had an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or are Married Filing Separately, also qualify for Washington's credit.
You can review the
qualifications for the federal Earned Income Credit to see if you might be eligible to claim the Working Families Tax Credit.
Eligible Washington residents can claim the credit for themselves and up to three
qualifying children.
