How am I taxed if I have a green card?
If you have a green card, you're considered a U.S. tax resident and you should report your worldwide income on your tax return, even if you don't live in the United States during the tax year.
Green card holders can claim the Foreign Tax Credit and the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion the same way a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident can claim those tax benefits.
If you qualify for the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion, you won't be able to prepare your tax return with our software. You will need to file Form 2555, which our software doesn't support.
