Why can't I attach my 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC to my business?

Statutory employee wages and self-employment income are treated differently, so they can't both be reported on the same Schedule C. If you have a statutory employee W-2 and a 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC, you will need to create two Schedule Cs and allocate the expenses between the two.
