Why can't I use my Foreign Tax Credit carryover this year?

The IRS allows you to use a prior year carryover of the foreign tax credit up to the limit of the credit. The limit on the credit is based on the amount of foreign income you have this year. So, if you don't have any foreign income this year, you won't be able to use your foreign tax credit carryover on this year's taxes.
