Can I prepare a tax return for the prior year?
Yes. If you want to prepare a tax return for the prior year, or if you started a tax return during the prior year and want to finish it, you can do so.
From the home page, click Prior Year Return. You can choose to either start a new tax return from the previous year or continue a tax return from the previous year. You will not be able to e-file a prior year tax return since the deadline for e-filing a prior year tax return with the IRS has passed. You can, however, print and mail the tax return.
