What if I forget my password?

Click on the "Forgot Password?" link located on the Sign In screen. You will need to enter your username, Social Security number, and answer the security questions. If answered correctly, a new password will be emailed to you.

If you need to update your account's email address prior to requesting a new password, please click on the "Change Account Email Address" link on the "Forgot Password" screen. Once you have updated your email address, you may then request your username.

What if I forgot my password for the current or previous year's account?

On the menu bar, click Account and select Forgot Password. On this page, you will need to enter your username and Social Security number. If answered correctly, an email with a temporary password will be sent to the email address you entered when you set up your account. If your email address is no longer valid, select the Change Account Email Address link on the Forgot Password page and follow the instructions to change your email address. Once you have a temporary password, you can change it by logging into the year for which it was given, and then selecting Change Password in the Account menu, and following the instructions.

I never received my password via email when I submitted the information on the Forgot Password page.

Check your spam/junk folder. Some email services will put the emails we send out for Acceptance, Rejection, Billing Receipts, Forgot Password, and Forgot Username into the junk folder of your email account. The easiest thing to do to ensure that you receive emails from us is to add our support address, support@FreeTaxUSA.com to your contact list or list of trusted senders.

How do I retrieve a forgotten username or password?

Go to the Sign in screen. Using the menu bar across the top of the screen, select the Account option. Under this option will be a Forgot Username and Forgot Password link.

If you requested your username or password through one of these links, and you did not receive the email with your username or password, then check your junk/spam folder. How do I change my password?

Using the menu, select the Account tab and click on Edit User Profile. You can change your email address, password, username, email preferences, or security questions on the Edit User Profile page.
