What are estimated tax payments?

Estimated tax payments are made to Illinois separately from any W-2 or 1099 withholdings. If you made any estimated Illinois tax payments you need to:
  • Enter any estimated tax payments you made for 2012.
  • Enter any overpayment applied from Line 38 of your 2011 Form IL-1040.
  • Enter any amount prepaid with an extension request.
Do NOT enter any amount of your 2012 Illinois income tax withheld by your employer(s) as shown on any wage or tax (W-2 or 1099) statements. DO NOT enter any income tax refund from a prior year return.
